The Blue Mound Trail
The Blue Mound Hiking and Biking Trail offers six miles of trail stretching from Main Street Luverne to the Blue Mound State Park. Along the path visitors can see open scenery and agricultural fields as well as a beautiful view of the Blue Mound cliff line. A portion of the trail branches off to the top of a 90 foot cliff line and offers a panoramic view of Luverne.The Blue Mound State Park offers an additional 13 miles of hiking trails that lead you over the top of the Mounds through rich and caried prairie-dominated terrain. IN PROGRESS: The Luverne Loop!
Planning is underway for an additional seven miles of trail around the outskirts of the city. By connecting to the Blue Mound Trail, the Luverne Loop will provide residents and visitors
The Loop will be completed in 3 Phases. Phase 1 was completed in 2016; it begins at Veterans Memorial Pond and terminates at Dodge Street. Phase 2 is set for construction in 2017 and will continue from Dodge Street to south Highway 75. Phase 3 will venture from south Highway 75 and terminate at a new planned trailhead at Redbird Field, which ultimately connects to the Blue Mounds Trail at the intersection of Main Street and Bluemound Avenue.
